We
found Audio Generator easy to navigate and set up.
We did however run into a problem recording with our
microphone. Audio Generator seems to require an active
x control to be installed on your computer when recording
by microphone. This active x control conflicted with
our system and was not able to be installed due to
conflicts with windows XP. Thus, we could not record
by microphone.
As
with some of the other web audio software programs,
if you want to import an Mp3 it must be created with
the right specifications. These specifications are
detailed on the Audio Generator website.
This
is one of the few services that allows you to record
directly by telephone. Although phone recording quality
is not the best, it is very simple and easy to use
and is great for getting audio testimonials for your
site.
If
you can copy and paste code into your webpage and
talk on the phone then Audio Generator is all you
need to place streaming web audio buttons on your
website. Audio Generator does however charge and additional
$0.10 a minute for ANY phone use.
Audio
Generator will host your audio files and buttons,
there is no need to upload your buttons to your website.
This can be good for those who do not know how to
upload or are using a free web host. Although this
does bring up issues of ownership over your audio
buttons and could be a potential problem when you
cancel the service.
Overall
we found Audio Generator to be user friendly and provide
a wide variety of features. We especially liked the
ability to choose the color of the audio buttons.
Pros:
Ability to record by phone for audio testimonials.
Very easy for beginners and novices.
Cons:
When recording by telephone the audio messages are
susceptible to line noise and cost an additional $0.10
a minute. Also, if you ever cancel your account you
will lose your audio messages.
