This is a review of Traffic Secrets, a home study course created by John Reese. The release of Traffic Secrets involved an unprecedented amount of promotion. And while this led to a record number of sales, it also created a resistance to the product by a lot of people. So what's the real story?

Traffic Secrets is without question loaded with useful information. It's impossible to list every benefit that everyone might get from it, but I'll hit what I feel are the most important. However, Traffic Secrets is not without its flaws. And I'll explain what some of those are too. Most importantly, while Traffic Secrets will undoubtedly help some people achieve great heights, it's not for everyone.

What's so great about Traffic Secrets? One of the best things about Traffic Secrets is that it was created by John Reese, who probably has more experience than anyone at online marketing. Although most people had never heard of him before he released Traffic Secrets, he's a legitimate success story and he knows what he's doing. And in Traffic Secrets, he really does reveal a lot about how he has accomplished so much.

• One of the biggest benefits overlooked by most people is that John Reese reveals his business model. He explains how he structures his web sites to maximize traffic. He explains how he makes money from that traffic whether they buy his product or not. For a few people, very little of this may be new, but for many it could mean rethinking the way they do business online.

• Another lesson that had a big impact on me was the way John does his keyword research. He spends a lot of time in this course explaining how important keyword research is and how he does it. This is one of the biggest factors in his success. Even those folks who pride themselves on effective keyword research may learn a whole new way of looking at it.

• Traffic Secrets doesn't cover every possible way to get traffic, but it does go into detail about most of the methods that people use. And it's up to date. A good deal of what John teaches involves technologies that have only become popular in the past year or so. But he also teaches methods that he's used for many years and that won't be going out of style.

• Although the majority of Traffic Secrets revolves around getting traffic from search engines, a substantial amount of material covers partnering with other people as well. In one of the video tutorials, John demonstrates how he searches for web sites that he can partner with to create traffic.

• One of the biggest surprises for many people was John's lesson on banner advertising. Most people have believed for years that banner advertising was no longer effective, but John and one of his students featured on the DVDs show that it's most definitely effective if you do it properly. Why else would anyone purchase a half a billion banner impressions a month?

• One important point about Traffic Secrets - it's not just about traffic. While the majority of it focuses on getting traffic, there are also entire lessons devoted to testing, tracking, and outsourcing.

If nothing else, anyone who takes Traffic Secrets seriously and really studies it should come away with a much BIGGER way of thinking. John Reese thinks big about everything he does, and that comes through in everything he teaches in Traffic Secrets.

And it's clear that this is one of the most important reasons why he's as successful as he is. So not only will you learn how to do this and how to do that, you'll develop a new mindset that will allow you see things you never considered possible before.

Despite the benefits, the course could be better. Although John provides a lot of video tutorials to show you step by step how to do things, he doesn't provide very many real life examples of what he teaches.

For example, one of the video tutorials discusses how to use blogs and other such sources to create content for your own web pages. John explains what technology you can use to do this, but in the end he just says "Get a programmer to do it for you" or some such thing. And he doesn't actually show you how he would integrate this onto a web page - what it would look like if he did it.

There are other cases like this throughout the course as well. Just showing a screen shot of a web page using the strategies he teaches would be invaluable in many instances. For example, it would be great to see one of John's web pages so that you could get an idea of how he gets his visitors to take action once they're on his site. Even a sample page made specifically for the course would be quite useful. But since he doesn't, it means you have to figure out how to use it for yourself.

This leads to another issue. This isn't exactly a problem with the course. But it's something that will cause problems for a lot of people. John teaches strategies. And he even shows you how to do it in many cases. But he doesn't show you how to use it for your own business. This means that in order to really benefit from Traffic Secrets, you're going to need to do a lot of heavy duty thinking. And many people don't like to do that.

• Already understand the fundamentals of doing business online. Traffic Secrets won't teach you how to set up a web site or write copy or create products. If you don't already make money online, then you should invest in other educational materials. Before you get traffic, you need to have a system set up to do something with it.

• Are willing to spend a huge amount of time and effort not only studying Traffic Secrets, but using the information you get from it. The information in Traffic Secrets, while extremely useful, will only help you if you use it. And using it will require a major commitment of time from you. Traffic Secrets is not a fill-in-the-blanks template. It teaches you how to do things, but you must do them.

• Already have some experience getting traffic to a web site. Although Traffic Secrets will teach you how to do it even if you have no experience, you'll learn much more quickly and easily if you already understand some of it at least a little bit.

• Are happy to spend a thousand dollars on your education. Traffic Secrets isn't cheap, but it will pay off many times over for those people that are ready to use it. However, if a thousand bucks seems like too much money, then you probably shouldn't consider it right now. Wait until you're making more money so that it doesn't seem like so much to you.

Despite the paucity of case studies and real life examples, Traffic Secrets will be the key that unlocks a lot of doors for some people. If you're the kind of person who's willing to put a lot of hours and hard work into something and you can afford the price tag without hyperventilating, then Traffic Secrets will almost certainly take your business to another level.
